THE Shelby Clan Game to Take Web3 Gaming Mainstream

By order of fate itself, the streets of Birmingham shall soon echo beyond the smoke and cobblestone, into the halls of Web3. In the year 2026, Peaky Blinders — the revered tale of grit, war, and razor-sharp ambition — will be reborn as a crypto game.

With over 80 million loyal viewers behind it, the series now marches forward to bring “interactive experiences, action sequences, and a tokenized in-game currency,” into the clutches of blockchain gaming. Whispers from the alleyways liken it to a blend of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption — but with more flat caps, bloodied knuckles, and sharpened steel.

Though details are guarded like treasures at Eden Club, one fact is certain: with Peaky Blinders enjoying 260 times the global demand of an average series, this is a wager the house cannot afford to ignore. Grit, honor, and coin — it is a game for those who understand loyalty and power in equal measure.

As GameSwift AI’s Pan Paragraf put it, “This is so far the largest IP joining the blockchain gaming sector, blending gritty storytelling with true ownership.”

Peaky Blinders writer breaks silence on new series – and Brummies will love it

Speaking exclusively to BirminghamLive, Steven Knight confirmed the new BBC and Netflix series – and it will be shot in Birmingham.

A new spin-off series of Peaky Blinders will start filming soon, set in the 1950s, and will be shot in Birmingham, home of the Shelbys, writer and creator Steven Knight has exclusively revealed.

The world-acclaimed drama will definitely be back, he confirmed, ending months of speculation.

“There is a new series and what’s really great for Birmingham is that, like the film, it will be shot here,” he said.

Brummie-born Knight hinted that Cillian Murphy, as head of the family Thomas Shelby, could be involved, though said more details would emerge ahead of a series premiere.

The new series will be ‘a spin-off’ focused on the antics of the ‘next generation’ of Peaky Blinders, he said.

It will be set in the 1950s – the era of teddy boys and gangsters like the Krays – with locations in and around the Knight-backed new Digbeth Loc film and TV studios.

The series will be out next year on the BBC, with Netflix also involved, and will follow on from the release of the hugely anticipated Peaky Blinders movie Immortal Man, starring Murphy alongside Stephen Graham, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan.

The Netflix-backed film has also largely been shot in the city and at nearby Black Country Living Museum, and will star locations that will be ‘instantly recognisable’ to Brummies, said Knight.

“You will see some amazing scenes set in the centre of Birmingham, around the canals, at and around the Town Hall,” he said.

When shooting the film, the filmmakers were ‘astonished’ that so many suitable locations existed in and around the city, he said. That’s likely because previous series of the drama were largely shot in Leeds and Manchester in the belief that the city lacked the right backdrops.

“In fact, the right settings are right here – all we had to do was reveal the truth to them,” said Knight.

The filmmakers and actors ‘loved being here’, he said. “People were incredibly impressed. When we first get them here they say ‘why are you bringing me to Birmingham’ but when they come and experience it, it is universally an incredible, positive response.”

“Connectivity is important, it’s a big deal to be not far from London, with good motorway, air and train links. But it’s the people that do it, the friendliness of the people, and that they are hard-working and get things done.”

The news of a seventh series of the landmark TV show is a massive filip for the city of Birmingham and will seal its credentials as a creative centre of excellence.

The first series of BBC’s Masterchef since it moved to a bespoke new studio in Digbeth is also finishing up and will be out later this year.

Knight spoke of his most famous artistic creation while hailing his love for the city and its bright future, after months of negative headlines.

Multiple landmark projects and initiatives are currently reaching critical points that will put Birmingham on the map for the right reasons, he said, referring to his Digbeth project, the Sports Quarter vision of Tom Wagner at Birmingham City, and several major developments coming to life around the city centre.

“The bin strike is a low ebb and from here we will go up,” he said.

“Birmingham is on the up, I firmly believe that. We need to stop putting ourselves down and believe in ourselves.”

West Midlands mayor Richard Parker said he was pleased to see the show being filmed in Birmingham:

“Birmingham is the home of the Peaky Blinders – so it’s only right that the next chapter of their story is filmed here in the city where it all began. I’ve been working closely with Steven Knight to help make that happen and I’m delighted we’re on track to bring this iconic production back to Brum.

“The West Midlands is fast becoming a powerhouse for TV and film and I’m doing everything I can to create opportunities for the brilliant creative talent we have here – including opening a new regional film office this autumn that will help make the West Midlands a natural home for the screen industry.”
